1998 Nissan Altima 2.4 l Automatic. Died suddenly checked it and it has no spark. I have a code PO340 camshaft position sensor malfunction circuit A. Since the cam sensor is built in to the distributor I figured that's what it is since I have no means of getting a wiring diagram or none that I found on the internet at least. Installed it but same symptoms still get the code for the cam sensor. Checked fuses and relays they all check out ok. What am I missing please help.

Yes it is turning. New distributor, timing chain is strong as well. I'm going to take the distributor apart maybe something not connected. Still unsure.

I can't find a Nissan video but there are others on similar Honda and Toyota setups.
This type of arrangement with a horizontal electronic distributor are prone to failure due engine oil leaking into the distributor body as the engine ages.
If there is oil leaking into the distributor body make 100% the crankcase ventilation system is clear before fitting new parts.
It also goes without say to check powers and grounds to the distributor first.

This is a V-6 Nissan Distributor engine but the tests I show on the distributor signals would be identical.
This is a premium video that I had locked down (private) on YouTube but I made it unlisted so you can watch it without having to subscribe to ScannerDanner Premium.

Will you please let me know when you are done watching this video so I can lock it up again?
Thanks!

Thank you for the video. I'm gonna take the distributor apart when I get home. Being new and all I trust it should be good but then again something could be wrong with it internally.
